April 2014 to August 2014

These are 250-meter road construction projects. Tersus effected a complete overhaul and reconstruction of these roads, including drainage. The roads were built to international standards, using paving stones. Here are some of the steps involved:

  • Created a very stable sub-grade by replacing soil where required
  • Stabilized the sub-grade using a vibrating roller to compact the material, before density testing
  • Applied the stone base with a paver, to achieve the required thickness
  • Compacted the stone base, then plate-bearing tested it at 25-metre intervals
  • Spread a light layer of sharp sand and then installed paving stones
  • Compacted the pavement using a light roller
  • Manufactured and installed pre-cast drains, with drain covers that also function as pedestrian walkways
